Nino Rota (1911-1979) is probably best know as a prolific film composer with at least 150 films to his credit from the 1940's through the 1970's.  In his native Italy he was also a respected composer of operas, symphonies, and chamber works.  This list includes a variety of Rota's works which you may want to explore.
