Many have embarked on a career in music and have generously shared their advice about this journey. In this guide you will find books on a broad spectrum of career-related topics (see the related tabs above). We've also listed some great online resources where you can expect to find job/audition notices as well as information about grants, fellowships, competitions and other musical opportunities.

What can I find in the Internet?

Career resources for musicians online are constantly changing. Let Robinson Music Library help with a few of our favorite resources:

  • Musical America's Ask Edna Blog

  • Music Performance Resume Handbook
A guide to preparing a resume or curriculum vitae for the musician and other resources provided by the Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music.
  • - Orchestra Musician Forum
A great resource for the aspiring orchestra member. Its purpose is to "To enhance the professional development and broaden the perspectives of musicians who are participants in North American symphony orchestras and other musical arts organizations."
